Jamni Kheri is a calm and well-settled village whose name is believed
to be derived from its ancient geographical setting or the presence
of jamun (black plum) groves in earlier times. The term “Kheri”
traditionally refers to a small and secure rural settlement.
At present, the village is led by its Sarpanch, Mrs. Sumitra. Under
her leadership, focused efforts are being made to ensure the supply
of clean drinking water and proper maintenance of village streets,
helping improve the overall quality of rural life.
Socially, Jamni Kheri has a peaceful and cooperative community
structure. The villagers strongly value traditional customs and
mutual cooperation. Agriculture remains the primary source of
livelihood for most families.
The fertile land supports the cultivation of wheat, mustard, and
fodder crops. Animal husbandry is equally important, with many
households engaged in rearing high-quality buffalo breeds. The
traditional chaupal culture continues to play a vital role, where
elders resolve social matters through collective understanding and
consensus. Jamni Kheri stands out as a village that preserves
traditional rural values while steadily moving towards organized
development.
