History and Social–Agricultural Overview of Garhi

Garhi is a historically important and strategically significant village in the region. The term “Garhi” commonly refers to a small fort or a protected settlement, highlighting the village’s defensive importance in earlier times.

Currently, the village is led by its Sarpanch, Mr. Sajjan Kumar. During his tenure, special emphasis is being placed on strengthening basic infrastructure and promoting digital literacy among villagers, helping the community adapt to modern administrative systems.

Socially, Garhi has a proud and disciplined community deeply connected to its historical roots. The people are known for their bravery, hospitality, and hard-working nature. Agriculture plays a vital role in the village economy, and the soil here is extremely fertile.

Cotton and food grains are the main crops, and nearby agricultural markets allow farmers to receive fair prices for their produce. A well-developed irrigation system supports farming activities. The chaupal culture remains very active, where important village decisions are made collectively. The village playground is always lively with youth practicing traditional sports such as kabaddi and wrestling, bringing pride to the village.
