Depal village is a peaceful and historically significant village of the
Hansi region. The origin of its name is believed to be inspired either by
its ancient geographical importance or by the name of a local ancestor.
The word “Depal” is also linked to old dialects where it may have referred
to a “gateway” or “entrance,” suggesting that this place once served as an
entry point to a larger surrounding area.
At present, the village is led by Sarpanch Mrs. Sumitra Devi. As a woman
leader, she is actively focusing on improving village streets, drainage
systems, and strengthening Anganwadi facilities for children, which is
contributing positively to rural welfare.
Socially, Depal has a very simple and brotherhood-oriented structure.
Villagers continue to preserve their traditional culture and customs.
Agriculture forms the backbone of the local economy. The land here is
fertile, and farmers cultivate traditional crops such as wheat, mustard,
and pearl millet. Along with farming, animal husbandry is widely practiced.
Almost every household keeps cows and buffaloes, resulting in good milk
production.
The people of Depal are deeply religious in nature. Satsangs and kirtans
held at village temples add spiritual vibrancy to daily life. The youth
of the village are highly disciplined and motivated; they can often be
seen running through farm paths early in the morning while preparing for
recruitment in the army and police forces. Depal is a village where
traditional Haryanvi values, hospitality, and simplicity are still very
much alive.
