Chanot village is one of the most ancient and historically significant
villages of the Hansi region. According to local beliefs, the name
“Chanot” originated from the word “Chanak” (chickpea cultivation), as
the area was well known for growing gram crops in ancient times. Another
belief suggests that the village is connected to the settlement of an
ancient king or warrior.
At present, the village is led by Sarpanch Mrs. Saraswati. Chanot her
leadership, special focus is being given to improving drinking water
facilities and promoting female education, which is strengthening the
village’s social foundation.
Socially, Chanot has a proud and deeply traditional structure. Mutual
respect, harmony, and peaceful coexistence define village life. The
ancient pond and temple located at the center of the village are key
symbols of its identity and heritage.
From an agricultural point of view, the land of Chanot is highly fertile.
Farmers mainly cultivate wheat, mustard, and cotton. The village has
well-managed canal irrigation facilities, ensuring stable agricultural
production. Animal husbandry plays a major supporting role in the local
economy, and dairy farming is carried out on a large scale.
The youth of Chanot show great interest in sports, especially running
and long jump. Even today, the village chaupal remains an important
center where elders collectively discuss village development. Chanot is
widely known across the region for its hospitality, simplicity, and
disciplined rural lifestyle.
