The name Bir Hansi clearly reflects the geographical and historical
significance of the village. In Haryana, the term “Bir” is commonly used
for land that was historically reserved by kings or administrations as
forest land or protected grazing areas. Since this village is located
adjacent to the boundaries of Hansi town, it came to be known as Bir Hansi.
At present, the village is led by Sarpanch Mrs. Mamta. Due to its close
proximity to the city, she faces both challenges and opportunities in
connecting the village with urban facilities and developing modern
infrastructure.
Socially, Bir Hansi presents a unique blend of modern lifestyle and
traditional rural values. Being close to the city, the agricultural
pattern here is gradually changing. Along with food grains, farmers are
now increasingly adopting vegetable cultivation and floriculture, as the
large Hansi market is easily accessible.
Despite these changes, the village has preserved its rural spirit.
The people here are friendly and show a high level of awareness towards
education. Many women are becoming economically independent by joining
self-help groups. The sense of brotherhood in the village is very strong,
and the entire community stands united for any public cause.
Bir Hansi is steadily emerging as an “urban village,” where city-like
facilities coexist with deep-rooted village values and traditions.
